About Proximity Chat
Big Walk's in-game voice and text communication responds to distance, walls, corridors, soundproof barriers, and communication tools.
How proximity communication works
Official feature descriptions state that voices fade across distance, echo down corridors, become muffled through walls, and crackle through walkie-talkies. Communication is designed as a central gameplay mechanic rather than an optional convenience.
Players are encouraged to use the in-game systems because challenges can intentionally limit what group members can hear or communicate.
Text chat
A microphone is not required. The official FAQ says text chat has the same features and restrictions as voice chat: distant messages cannot be read, soundproof glass can block them, and communication items such as walkie-talkies can carry them.
External voice applications
The game cannot prevent players from using external voice software, but House House advises against it. Bypassing communication restrictions can remove the intended challenge from situations built around finding other ways to communicate.
Unknown technical details
The official pages used for this entry do not publish exact distance thresholds, audio attenuation values, or a full list of surfaces and spaces that alter communication.
