Verified summary

Big Walk is an online cooperative adventure for 2–12 players. Friends join through supported platform friend lists or a Join Code; there is no automatic matchmaking.

Group size and world setup

The host selects a 2-player, 3-player, or 4+ world. Supported sessions range from two to 12 players, and the official FAQ does not identify one group size as best.

Joining and crossplay

Players can join an active host through their platform friends list or a short Join Code. Crossplay is confirmed among Windows, macOS, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Automatic matching with strangers is not supported. Groups need to organize their own sessions.

Hosting, saves, and communication

Progress saves automatically to the host. The same host must reopen the session when the group wants to continue.

Voice and text chat respond to distance and environmental barriers. Walkie-talkies can carry communication farther; exact communication ranges are not yet documented.
